Wood — guide and care

Wood — a few essentials

A few words on the wood species found in our objects, and how to take care of them.

Common species

Oak — dense, resistant, with a pronounced grain. Ideal for tables and everyday surfaces.

Walnut — dark, warm, with color variations. Often used for cutting boards and furniture.

Ash — light, lightweight, with a straight grain. A good balance of strength and price.

Cedar — fragrant, soft, moisture-resistant.

Olive wood — dense, with unique patterns. Suitable for food contact.

Caring for a wooden object

Wipe with a damp, not soaked, cloth. Avoid harsh chemical products and prolonged sun exposure.

For surfaces in contact with food, apply a thin coat of food-safe oil (linseed, walnut or mineral oil) every few months.

A fine crack along the grain is not a defect — it's the wood moving with the room's humidity.
